Advice for consumers

This game was rated PEGI 7 because it features violence that lacks any apparent harm or injury to fantasy or mythical beings and creatures as well as non-realistic violence in a child-friendly setting or context.

Brief outline of the game

TowerFall is an archery combat platformer for up to 4 players. It's a local party game centering around versus matches. The core mechanics are simple and accessible, but combat is fast and fierce. There is also a single player mode in which you need to defeat waves of monsters.

Content specific issues

The graphics are pixelated and have a 16 bit feel to them. The animations are fluent and natural. The game has a fantasy feel to it which shapes the levels and enemies. The violence in the game is aimed at pixelated human-like characters and monsters. These monsters can consist of blobs, flying eye balls, skeleton warriors etc. You can defeat enemies by jumping on their heads or by shooting them with your bow and arrow. When an enemy is hit by an arrow, they get knocked back and grind to a halt or are stopped by a wall. Since the game is pixelated, there isn’t much detail in the violence.

Other issues

The fantasy monster theme isn’t enough to warrant a PEGI Fear pictogram. However, the setting could be disturbing to younger children.
