Advice for consumers

This game was rated PEGI 12 for moderate violence towards human-like characters, sexual innuendo, mild swearing and infrequent horror. Not suitable for persons under 12 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

The characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4 discover a labyrinth extending far below Yasogami High School. Trapped within the school, they work together to find their freedom and build up their skills by battling fantasy ‘shadows’ or ‘FOEs’ and winning alter-ego ‘Personas’.

Content specific issues

The game often features non-realistic violence to fantastical enemies, but occasionally these enemies have a human-like appearance. For instance, a Queen of Hearts character is attacked in various ways by the main characters, though she barely flinches at blows strong enough to generate flashes of light. Much of the violence towards playable characters is implied, with enemies taking swipes off the screen. There are some horror elements to the game, such as one level featuring a monstrous doctor and his two contorted nurses, in a bloody operating theatre, where silhouettes of bodies strung up by the neck hang in the background. Sexual innuendo is reasonably frequent, such as one scene in which a character uses a shrinking potion to look up a girl’s skirt. The high school student’s ‘Personas’ – inspired by global mythologies – can be rather suggestive, such as an Incubus: a devil-like creature with a large red horn over its underwear. Moderate swear words are frequent, including ‘shit’, ‘piss’, 'dick', ‘damn’, ‘bastard’, ‘crap’ and ‘son of a bitch’.
