Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 16 because it features strong and sustained depictions of violence. Not suitable for persons under 16 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Multiplayer version of the latest instalment in the first person shooter series.

Content specific issues

Violence during gameplay consists of first-person shooter matches between humanoid soldiers, who react realistically to being shot once their energy shields are depleted. Blood effects are used but no wounds are shown. Bodies remain on the field after defeat. Cinematic scenes include sight of a soldier shielding a human using its own body, before engaging in close combat with enemies in the background as the human is knocked out by an energy blast in the foreground. Blood and injuries are not shown.

Other issues

This game includes the ability to make in-game purchases, in the form of virtual currency bundles which can be spent on cosmetic items such as weapons, armour and vehicles, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers, or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items. The game also includes use of bad language, including 'bastard' and 'pissed'.

Brief outline of the game

The latest instalment in the Halo franchise, in which the Master Chief returns to defeat the Banished and find a way home.

Content specific issues

Violence during gameplay involves alien characters being shot, resulting in realistic physical reactions and pained sounds, but little or no blood and no injuries depicted. When the player's character is hit, the first person nature of the game means any damage is largely indicated through sound effects and statistics on the player's display, rather than through explicit visuals. Cinematic sequences do show close-up hand-to-hand combat, with realistic physical reactions to beatings and being thrown, but no explicit wound details. Dead bodies can be examined, with some blood depicted but no graphic injuries.
