Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 18 which restricts availability to ADULTS ONLY and is not suitable for persons under 18 years of age. This rating has been given because it features graphic violence, violence against vulnerable and defenceless characters, motiveless killing of innocent characters, and use of strong language.

Brief outline of the game

Collection of games - HITMAN, HITMAN 2 and HITMAN 3 - including the main campaign, contract mode, escalations, elusive target arcades and the new mode HITMAN: Freelancer.

Content specific issues

The player's character is tasked with assassinating various targets, including by shooting, stabbing and strangling them, with resultant blood effects. In some cases, the violence is more sadistic or graphic in nature, including thrusting a sword through a character's head, which then emerges from their mouth, and lodging an axe in a character's head before using your foot to pull the axe out. There is an emphasis on the use of stealth in order to avoid detection. While the objective is to assassinate specific targets, the player's character can also kill innocent civilian characters. Blood effects are shown, and their bodies remain on the floor until the end of the level. These characters may attempt to flee, when they realise they are in danger, but they can still be killed as they try to escape. The game does not reward the player for such acts and killing innocent characters negatively effects your score. Assassination can involve the use explosive devices which when they explode will kill or injure all characters within the vicinity including innocents. Similarly, the indiscriminate use of an automatic weapon will result in a great number of innocent characters being killed. The game also features frequent use of strong language ('fuck').

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items, in the form of additional content such as DLCs offering new missions etc. Users can see and chose specific DLC packs and then are taken to the Store Front owner to finalise the offer. Some parents or carers may want to be aware of this. Parents, carers, or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.

This rating has been given because it features graphic violence, violence against vulnerable and defenceless characters, motiveless killing of innocent characters and use of strong language. Not suitable for persons below 18 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Stealth game. In this prequel to the Hitman series, players take control of a highly-trained assassin, known only as Agent 47, as he travels around the world in pursuit of his targets.

Content specific issues

It is possible to kill a large number of people at one time as Agent 47 shoots into crowds, who will begin to run away in panic or crouch on the floor with their hands on their heads. He can also ‘subdue’ people. This involves strangling them, as they struggle and kick their legs until they fall unconscious, after which he can snap their necks while they are incapable of running or defending themselves. There is also graphic violence in the game. Characters can be stabbed through their heads with a knife, knives can be thrown into their eyes and swords can be run through their throats. There is also the infrequent use of the sexual expletive ‘fuck’ and its derivatives.

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items using an in-game store. For example, players can buy a pack of missions for the game, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.

This rating has been given because it features strong violence, including against vulnerable and defenceless characters, and use of strong language. Not suitable for persons under 18 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Stealth-based action game sequel in which the player once again takes on the role of the world’s best assassin, Agent 47.

Content specific issues

Violence is strong and realistic-looking, including shooting, stabbing and strangulation. Blood appears when characters are attacked and bodies remain visible until the end of the level. While the objective of the missions is to eliminate specific targets, the player's character is also able to kill defenceless characters, for example by throwing them off balconies or snapping their necks. Defenceless characters can also be caught by explosions or be crushed by objects. Innocent characters may also be killed as they try to escape. The game does not reward the killing of innocent civilians and such actions do lead to a reduction in your score. There is infrequent use of strong language ('fuck').

Other issues

Although there is no sight of drug use, bricks of cocaine can be used to distract enemies. When the drug is thrown, it lets out dust which can cause other characters to pass out. This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items in the form of additional downloadable content, such as new missions. Some some parents or carers may want to be aware of this. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child.
