Brief outline of the game

Direct port of the original 1987 game, Metal Gear, which is a top-down view stealth game with 8-bit style graphics. You play as Solid Snake, a rookie mercenary, as he infiltrates the base 'Outer Heaven' in order to release a captured scientist and locate and destroy the advanced weapons system, 'Metal Gear'.

While the gameplay is focussed on stealth and killing your enemies, the violence is non-detailed and unrealistic. Characters flash when hit and disappear upon defeat. No blood or injuries are depicted and characters do not respond to the sound with any cries.
