Brief outline of the game

Planescape Torment (PST) and Icewind Dale (IWD) are RPGs set in the D&D fantasy world. PST is set in an extradimensional realm where ideas become reality, while IWD is set in the frozen north of the Forgotten Realms. In each, the player forms a party, goes on quests, kills monsters, and works to uncover the dark forces plotting against them.

Advice for consumers

The game was rated PEGI 12 for frequent non-realistic violence towards human and fantasy characters and the use of offensive language and mild swearing. Not appropriate for persons below 12 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

This is a compilation of two previously released games and includes some new content: Icewind Dale journey deep into the Spine of the World mountains, a harsh and unforgiving territory settled by only the hardiest folk. Beneath the carven glaciers and mountainsides, you must confront an evil that schemes to wreak destruction upon the face of Faerûn. Heart of Winter takes you to the small fishing village Lonelywood, which has been besieged barbarians.

Content specific issues

The game is played from a top down isometric view, with an ability to zoom in and out. The human characters can use magic and a plethora of medieval handheld weaponry including swords, axes, crossbows and maces etc. The enemy are a varied collection of fantasy characters ranging from skeleton and troll like creatures to large and small arachnids. In combat the human characters prevail the longest and can usually kill an enemy character such as a troll or other bipedal character, with just a few blows from whatever weapon they possess, the character hit will recoil on each occasion and a small amount of blood effect is shown. Therefore, the violence is deemed to be realistic towards a fantasy character. Human characters do not respond realistically to violence and continue to fight, showing no ill effects. There is the occasional use of the following offensive language ‘bitch’, ‘whore’, ‘arse’ and the word bastard.

Other issues

The game features online playing capability which may involve real-time interaction with other players.
