Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 12 because it features moderate violence, scenes that younger players may find frightening, and use of offensive language. Not suitable for persons under 12 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Survival horror game, based on the books by R.L. Stine. The player must hide from monsters, solve puzzles and shoot gummy bears.

Content specific issues

There is non-realistic looking violence towards human and fantasy characters. As the game progresses the player’s character acquires a weapon that emits an electrical discharge, with which the player can shoot enemy characters. When a character is shot, it immediately disappears in a cloud of coloured smoke. There are no associated pain noises. The game contains many jump scares. Some are quite benign whereas others may be scary for younger children, particularly those involving werewolf and evil clown characters. Their presence, combined with the use of dirge-like music, invokes a strong sense of threat and dread. When trying to avoid the evil clown, the player must hide in the smallest of places, such as a wooden chest, which increases the sense of fear and suspense. There is mild bad language, including ‘bloody’.
