Advice for consumers

Brief outline of the game

Side-scrolling fighting game, presented in the hand-drawn style of the original Asterix comics. Players can switch between controlling Asterix or Obelix as they travel the world and defeat enemies.

Content specific issues

There is mild violence against human and animal characters throughout the game. However, the violence is comic and unrealistic. Characters can be knocked down, resulting in comic book-style speech bubbles appearing which say things such as 'Pow' or 'Oof', after which they simply get up again. Characters can also be knocked into the air, causing them to disappear off-screen. There are no visible injuries. When Asterix or Obelix's health is depleted, they simply sit down and their mission fails.

Other issues

There are some references to wine and beer but alcohol does not play a prominent role in the game and cannot be used by the player.

Content specific issues

Players need to throw their opponents off platforms in order to be the last player standing. This involves landing some comical blows, including punching, grabbing, drop kicking and throwing. Blows knock characters backwards and, after a number of hits, they briefly fall to the ground. While there are some impact sounds, there are no sounds of pain and no sight of injuries. The violence is non-realistic in nature, in large part because of the gelatinous nature of the comic characters.

Brief outline of the game

Re-release of the real-time strategy game, set in an alternative reality just after the First World War, now including three DLC packs.

Content specific issues

This game contains frequent depictions of strong violence towards human-like and animal-like characters. The vast majority of the violence occurs during the gameplay. The player controls a group of soldiers and machines as they battle against the opposition. The violence is shown from a distance, with characters appearing small on the screen. The vast majority of the violence is inflicted using firearms and explosives. When characters are attacked, blood appears upon impact although there are no visible wounds. All units have a health bar, which is visible above their heads. When they have been defeated, they fall to the floor and their bodies remain in place for the duration of the mission. Examples of more realistic violence can be found in the game's cutscenes, in which characters are seen being shot and physically attacked. They react realistically, letting out cries of pain and limply falling to the floor. Wounds are visible and blood can often be seen pooling out from beneath them.

Other issues

There is a scene in which a man takes his own life, after being captured by the opposing side. When he is asked to comply with his captors, he blows himself up rather than give them any information. The violent act is obscured by a cloud of smoke and there is no blood or gore. There are some gory images, including sight of a severed arm after a violent act that is not shown.
