Survival horror game in which a string of ritualistic murders have taken place in the town of Bright Falls, Washington. Saga Anderson, an FBI agent, is sent to investigate the killings and finds herself tangled up in a supernatural story written by Alan Wake.

Action adventure horror game in which players assume the role of writer Alan Wake as he searches for his missing wife in a mysterious lakeside town.

Violence during gameplay involves shooting the undead, who simply glow and then disintegrate. However, cut scenes feature more realistic violence, including human characters being punched. Some of the cutscenes suggest that people have been killed horrifically, although the violence itself is not depicted in detail.
