Action adventure sequel, in which players control a mysterious protagonist known as the Penitent One, who is on a quest to stop a curse.

Content specific issues

This game features strong bloody violence. Generally this occurs during frenetic arcade-style 'hack and slash' gameplay, including sight of blood splatter when an arm is severed. During a cutscene there is also sight of a sword being plunged into a kneeling character in a sacrificial context. The violence is realistic-looking.

Brief outline of the game

Deluxe version of the action platform game in which players battle against a curse that has fallen across the land of Custodia and its inhabitants. This version of the game includes new bosses, areas, quests and game modes.

Content specific issues

This game features frequent strong violence. Attacks normally result in little response other than bright flashes and blood splatters, although combo and execution moves can result in enemies being dismembered before they disappear. Cut scenes feature strong fantasy violence, including a woman 'sacrificing' herself in order to create a sword. She is seen plunging a statue into her chest, which then becomes a sword. In another scene, a man drives a sword into his own stomach while he sits on a throne, after which he becomes a statue.

Trapped in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, it’s down to you to free the world from this terrible fate and reach the origin of your anguish by exploring this nightmarish world of twisted religion and discovering its many secrets hidden deep inside.

Content specific issues

Violence consists of predominantly hack and slash gameplay as you travel across the platforms, smiting the hordes of monsters and titanic bosses. General attacks result in little physical response from the enemies other than bright flashes and blood spatters, however, you can use devastating combos and brutal executions to rip your foes limb from limb before they disappear into the earth. Violence also occurs in cut scenes such as a woman sacrificing herself to create your sword, by plunging a statue into her breast, the statue becomes the weapon, and another scene where a man drives the sword into his own stomach while sitting on a throne. Both scenes result in the person becoming statues themselves.
