Brief outline of the game

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is a Third Person Shooter game. The user can control a member of either the Plant or Zombie faction throughout various game modes and levels and can customize the appearance of their characters through selection of pre-built customization items that can be earned through gameplay or purchased.

Content specific issues

The violence is unrealistic. You must shoot zombies with peas, needles, lasers, rockets etc. Depending on the unit and weapons used, the number of hits needed to kill an enemy differs greatly. When a zombie is killed, it falls over and ‘plops’ away. There is no blood or gore. It’s all cartoony (plants die in the same way as the zombies). The sound effects strengthen this cartoony vibe, as do the graphics and models used in the game. There are loads of oversized objects, a bright colour scheme, loads of goofy sound effects and there’s never a real sense of danger.

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items in the form of: The in-game store offers the possibility to purchase Rainbow Stars, the game Virtual Currency. Rainbow Stars can be used in game to redeem cosmetic customization items and collections. Such items can be either earned through gameplay or purchased through the in-game store which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes is a collectible card game where users build a custom deck of exactly 40 cards to fight against Hero opponents. Users can play as either plants or zombies. The story is told via comic-styled story sequences which are revealed as the user progresses through the game.

Content specific issues

The main objective of this game is to defeat the opposing side Hero by reducing its health to 0. That is done via the cards played on the field. All violence in the game is very humorous and cartoon-like. If zombies or plants are defeated, they disappear in the ground and little stars appear. All violence is turn-based.
