Using idividual special techniques players can pull off stylish combos and aim for the high score. Content specific issues

This game features combat between chibi human-like and fantasy characters. The violence found in this combat is unrealistic and over-the-top, as are reactions to it: characters have health bars, numbers indicate score, characters disappear in puffs of smoke when defeated, and so on. Gameplay can get pretty frenetic at times, but the colourful visual style helps in making such occurrences less disturbing.

Brief outline of the game

In Umihara Kawase Fresh!, Kawase carries a fishing lure with “rubber-band action.” The lure can be used as a grappling hook to swing from platforms, as a winch to raise or lower herself while suspended, as a bungee cord to slingshot herself in any direction and as a weapon to stun or defeat enemies.

Content specific issues

This game features combat between a cartoon-like human protagonist and fantasy characters. The violence found in this combat is unrealistic, as are reactions: your main means of attacking enemies involves stunning them with the fishing rod and reeling them in to turn them into ingredients. Enemies attack you using bullets made of nuts, or simply walk into you. Stars twirl around enemies’ heads when hit, they simply disappear when picked up. The player’s character starts blinking and falls down, after which the game prompts a game-over screen.
