Take2 Interactive Software Europe ltd
Release Dates & Platforms:
  • 10/06/2021 - PC

Advice for consumers

This game is rated PEGI 12 for depictions of non-realistic looking violence towards human-like and animal-like characters. Not suitable for persons under 12 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Compilation featuring the original turn-based strategy game, together with the expansions 'Sid Meier's Civilization Rise and Fall' and 'Gathering Storms', as well as various DLC.

Content specific issues

This game features frequent depictions of non-realistic violence towards human-like and animal-like characters. The player can attack members of opposing civilizations by clicking on them to trigger an attack. The characters show little or no reaction to the violence. Bright lights appear when characters are hit and numbers indicate the amount of damage inflicted. When characters are defeated, they fall to the floor and fade away, with no sight of blood or gore. Animals can also be attacked. For example, when a horse-riding warrior is defeated the horse falls over then runs away. Again, no injury is shown. In later stages of the game, battleships and tanks can engage in battle, resulting in them exploding into flames. Cities can also be attacked, leaving behind rubble and clouds. It is implied that people in the vehicles and cities have been killed, although no detail of this is shown.

Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 7 because it features pictures or sounds likely to be scary to young children, mild violence that lacks any apparent harm or injury to human-like characters, and non-realistic looking violence towards characters which, although human, are not very detailed. The game also includes some mild violence during pixelated mini-games, including spacecraft shooting at aliens, medieval sword fights, skeletons being blown up and floating people being hit with a fist, causing them to say "Ouch". There is no sight of blood or injuries and defeated characters usually disappear in a flash or a puff of smoke.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey

If enemy characters are hit outside, this causes damage to their body shield. When the shield is destroyed, the character dies inside their spacesuit. There is no sight of injury to human characters in these space-based scenes. There is also infrequent use of bad language ('bastard', 'shit' and 'piss').
