Advice for consumers
This game was rated PEGI 16 for strong violence towards. Not suitable for persons under 16 years of age.
Brief outline of the game
Sci-fi action shooter set in the far future which follows Master Chief, a genetically-enhanced soldier from the 26th century, spearheading humanity’s struggle against an alien Empire, the Covenant. Collection of Halo One, Two, Three and Four, with new HD features.
Content specific issues
The game features strong violence towards human and animal characters, by melee contact, explosives, vehicles and various firearms. The majority of the campaign is concerned with dispatching enemy alien characters, but – though not the aim – human and animal NPCs can be attacked. Shooting is often accompanied by blood effects, which either spray from characters or pool around their bodies, which fall lifelessly to the floor after several blows and remain in situ. In one scene in Halo 4, a huge beam vaporises a group of scientists, who burn up, layer by layer. A close up of a woman screaming is shown, as her skin, then muscle and then skeleton are burned to nothing.
Other issues
Some mild language included in the series, including 'hell', 'dammit', 'bitch', 'prick', 'friggin', ‘ass’ and 'bastards'. The game features online playing capability which may involve real-time interaction with other players.
