Brief outline of the game

A story driven action adventure game which is part of the “LEGO Dimensions” franchise. The game follows the plot of the movie “Ghostbusters”. The player joins the LEGO ghostbusters team on a mission to end the invasion of ghosts in to the city. General gameplay will consist of puzzle elements mixed with combat sequences.

Content specific issues

Fantastical characters can be “blasted” with a laser rifle. Like in the movies, ghosts can occasionally be trapped in a cage after being blasted for long enough. The fantastical creatures will flinch upon being hit. If defeated, characters may fall apart into small LEGO pieces. The game centres around ghastly creatures and these are riddled throughout gameplay, often popping up when a player approaches a certain object or puzzle. In the first cut scene a jump scare is depicted. The scenes described above are likely to be scary to young children.

This game is an add-on to the Disney Infinite 3.0 series. The game centres around a story in which Marvel heroes are being besieged by robotic copies of themselves. Ultron, an evil master mind, is behind this and needs to be stopped.

Content specific issues

All the violence in this game is directed at toy characters which disintegrate when defeated. You have the ability to perform special attacks which are introduces via a small cut-scene. However, the violent act itself isn’t as impactful as the cut-scene that introduces it. The normal attacks consists of punches, shooting lasers and other projectiles towards the enemy. Upon impact characters flinch or are knocked back. When they are defeated, they fall apart into small pieces which disappear after a short time.

Other issues

The game features a scary bad guy which could be frightening to younger children, but the character is not scary enough to warrant a PEGI fear descriptor.

Brief outline of the game

The elf princess Ivo is feeling unwell when it transpires that she is pregnant, although not via conventional means. Join Ivo, Nate and Wilbur on their adventure to find the cause of the epidemic in Seastone and Ivo’s magical malady on the way!

This game was given a PEGI 12 mainly for frequent use of mild language and sexual references. Language is frequently heard in the dialogue and includes such words as ‘Arseholes’, ‘Bloody’, ‘Crap’, Piss’, and ‘Shit’. Sexual references refer to a female elf character being in a pregnant state but cannot conclude how she came to be so. She insists that she has never had sex despite not knowing what sex actually is. She frequently asks other characters to tell her what sex is and that it is her right to have it, to which they all refuse to discuss it with her. Mild violence is also featured in the game and includes scenes where a character is knocked out after being hit over the head with a plank of wood, is turned to stone by the head of a gorgon, and other characters take part in brief scenes involving the use of magic against each other. You need to become the best Pokémon trainer in the world. Choose your Pokémon and fight battles with him or her. The more you train your Pokémon, the better it becomes and the more chance you have of becoming the best trainer.

Content specific issues

The game centres around 1vs1 arena based fighting as seen in games such as Tekken. Pokkén doesn’t feature any violence towards human-like characters. All the fights that are fought, are between the Pokémon. The game is bright and colourful, which is also reflected in the various unrealistic attacks they can unleash. Ranging from fireballs to teleportation attacks. The Pokémon react unrealistically to these attacks, they flinch back or fall on the floor when hit. When their HP gauge is depleted, they are defeated and fall down to the floor.

Other issues

There are a few darker themed Pokémon featured in this game. Gengar, a friendly ghost which can evolve into a larger, more serious, version and Shadow Mewto. These Pokemon could be disturbing to younger childeren, but they are not frightening enough to warrant a PEGI 7 fear descriptor. The game is centred around fighting and the action in this game is fast paced and frenetic. There are no RPG elements featured like in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Brief outline of the game

Star Fox Zero is a 3D scrolling shooter game with a sci-fi theme. As fighter pilot Fox McCloud, you are tasked with saving the Lylat star system from the tyranny of the evil Emperor Andross. Alongside crew members Slippy Toad, Peppy O’Hare and Falco Lombardi, Fox must fly, shoot and barrel roll his way through various missions.

Content specific issues

The gameplay is quite hectic, as players fight aerial battles against many enemy fighter planes, drones and robots. Bullets and missiles fly around, and when defeated the player character as well as enemies simply explode. There is never any apparent harm or injury to the pilots or other characters.

Other issues

Emperor Andross can be a bit disturbing for younger children.
