Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 18 which restricts availability to ADULTS ONLY and is not suitable for persons under 18 years of age. This rating has been given because it features graphic violence, violence against vulnerable and defenceless characters, motiveless killing of innocent characters, and use of strong language.

Brief outline of the game

Sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, in which Captain Price and Task Force 141 face-off against the ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov as he tries to extend his grasp across the world. The game contains a single player campaign, multiplayer battles, and a zombie game mode.

Content specific issues

This game features strong and realistic violence, including blood spurts from bullet impacts. Shotgun blasts at close range may result in more graphic injuries, including decapitation and dismemberment with copious blood. Incendiary weapons can result in characters being engulfed in flames, with sight of burned bodies afterwards. There is a scene in which multiple innocent characters are executed in a stadium, and it is possible for defenceless prisoners in a jail to be shot. The 'zombie mode' includes copious dismemberment and decapitation with large amounts of blood. The dialogue includes occasional use of strong language ('fuck').

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items, in the form of an in-game currency ('Cod Points'), which can then be exchanged for in-game items, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.

Horror
Release Dates & Platforms:
  • Nintendo Switch - 09/11/2023

Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 16 because it features scenes of intense and sustained horror. Not suitable for persons under 16 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Visual novel set in a fictional country in which people are cursed to die by the age of 23.

Content specific issues

This game features scenes of strong horror in the form of still images of violent acts, including a person being choked, a person with an arrow in their chest, and a person with blood spraying from their neck as the blade of a sword is drawn across their throat. There is sight of blood in some of these still images.

Other issues

There are visual and verbal references to suicide, including still images showing characters holding blades to their own throats. However, the context in which these suicide references occur is fantastical and suicide is never encouraged or glamorised. There are text references to violence and death, including the deaths of children, and sight of bodies covered in blood. The game also includes use of bad language, including 'whore', 'piss', 'shit', 'bitch' and 'bastard', as well as text-based sexual references.

Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 3. Suitable for all ages.

Brief outline of the game

Underwater platform game themed around musical equipment. The player's character must catch fish-like creatures called Monomals, which can be used to make music.

Content specific issues

Most stages in the game feature simple, fish-like enemies, which will attack the player's characters. These enemies can be defeated by dashing into them, which causes them to fly backwards and explode in a puff of smoke, leaving behind a coin. If the player gets hit, part of the fishing-line trailing the creature will become transparent. The line will slowly fill up and return to normal, but if the player gets hit while part of the line is transparent, they will be defeated and respawn at the latest check-point, as well as lose some coins in the process. There never is any visible harm or hurt as part of the reactions.

Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 12 because it features moderate violence. Not suitable for persons under 12 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Role-playing game in which a cursed prince becomes a monster wrangler, creating an army of monsters to take into battle on a quest for revenge.

Content specific issues

Much of the violence during gameplay consists of turn-based battles between monsters. Damage is shown using numbers and results in a loss of health, with characters disappearing when defeated. However, there is also a contest in which human characters engage in hand-to-hand combat, in what is called a 'Festival of Fisticuffs'. The violence here is non-realistic looking, with exaggerated reactions and damage shown as a number value, with no blood effects. There are also some scenes of violence during cutscenes, including a human character being kicked and falling over, although the impact itself is not shown, and a fantasy character attacking a human character with a scythe, although there is no blood and the reaction is exaggerated.

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items, including two additional dungeons and the ability to open a magic treasure chest once an hour and receive a free gift. The items in this chest are not randomised in nature. Instead, the player works through a list of prizes over time, in order. The prizes include supplies that can be used to scout for monsters more easily. The three paid items of DLC also come with additional costumes. There is a link to the Nintendo eShop, in-game, to purchase these DLC items, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.
