Content specific issues

Beginning with the aftermath of a massacre in your home town, the faceless bodies of the deceased lying in the snow, violence consists of you using anything from a carrot to a rocket launcher, to bash, slash or shoot the enemy. Gameplay is fast-paced and frenetic as you run through the levels, negotiating the obstacles of the landscape. Responses to being attacked are over-exaggerated and unrealistic in nature with characters being knocked around like rag-doll. At random intervals the camera will zoom in on enemy faces and play in slow-motion as you kill them returning to normal. Visible injuries are not shown but excessive amounts of blood are used throughout the sustained violence, culminating with the dead remaining on the ground and piling up in high traffic areas. Sexual expletives and offensive language are use rarely in the subtitles but include the words ‘fuck’, ‘fucked’, ‘fucking’, ‘bastard’, ‘bloody’, ‘motherfucker’, ‘goddamn’ and ‘shit’.

This game has been rated PEGI 12 for depictions of non-realistic looking violence towards human-like characters, realistic violence of a minor nature towards human-like characters, realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters, and pictures likely to be horrifying. Play as Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist's curse that slowly crystallizes her body. Battle through a demon-infested castle and defeat its master to save yourself, and all of humanity.

Content specific issues

This game contains frequent depictions of non-realistic looking violence towards human-like characters. Human characters flash brightly upon impact of attacks, and numbers show the amount of damage inflicted. They often let out cries of pain, although there are no injuries visible on their bodies. Some attacks cause characters to be thrown into walls which then staggers them for a short time. This game also contains infrequent realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters. Some attacks can cause creatures heads to be decapitated, there are no blood effects, they then slump to the floor before disappearing. There are also flying pig-like characters that explode when they are defeated, splatters of blood and skin fly outwards before disappearing. This game also contains infrequent depictions of realistic violence of a minor nature towards human-like characters. If the player equips a bladed weapon such as a sword, they can cause human enemies to bleed on impact. This game also contains pictures likely to be horrifying. The most pertinent example is a large fountain which is filled with blood, if you follow the waterfall of blood up the fountain you will find it originating from the ripped open carcass of a werewolf. Strong injury detail and gore is visible.
