Advice for consumers

This game was rated PEGI 7 because it contains features violence that lacks any apparent harm or injury to fantasy or mythical beings and creatures and non-realistic violence in a child-friendly setting or context.

Brief outline of the game

You need to become the best Pokémon trainer in the world. Choose your Pokémon and fight battles with him or her. The more you train your Pokémon, the better it becomes and the more chance you have of becoming the best trainer.

Content specific issues

The game centres around 1vs1 arena based fighting as seen in games such as Tekken. Pokkén doesn’t feature any violence towards human-like characters. All the fights that are fought, are between the Pokémon. The game is bright and colourful, which is also reflected in the various unrealistic attacks they can unleash. Ranging from fireballs to teleportation attacks. The Pokémon react unrealistically to these attacks, they flinch back or fall on the floor when hit. When their HP gauge is depleted, they are defeated and fall down to the floor.

Other issues

There are a few darker themed Pokémon featured in this game. Gengar for instance, a friendly ghost which can evolve into a larger, more serious, version. These Pokemon could be disturbing to younger children, but they are not frightening enough to warrant a PEGI 7 fear. The game is centred around fighting and the action in this game is fast paced and frenetic. There are no RPG elements which feature in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
