Advice for consumers

The game was rated PEGI 18 for frequent strong violence towards human characters. Not appropriate for persons below 18 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

You’re going to play two different viewpoints. Rhys works for Hyperion; he’s a company man (a scheming, low-level data-miner within Hyperion) with grand ambitions that have been thrown off the rails. Fiona is a fast-talking con artist, with very few people left on Pandora she hasn’t swindled one way or another. They both have a very different opinion of the events that brought them together, and the only way to find out something near to the truth is to live their lives and make your own decisions.

Content specific issues

The majority of the violence seen in the game is regarded as realistic looking, however there are instances where the violence is determined to be strong. The following are examples that show the depiction of strong violence during gameplay: • death of human characters caused by the use of a meat cleaver and a large axe blade striking the head, in both cases the weapon remains buried in the character’s head when it falls to the floor. • man is gripped in the jaws of a large animal and is pulled out, minus his torso, blood and gore evident. • During a frenetic fight between characters, one of whom is armed with a samurai type of sword, which he uses to frequently slash at other characters, cutting off limbs and occasionally cutting characters in half. • Cut scene in which the player’s character plunges his robotic hand and arm into and through the chest of another character, when it is withdrawn he can be seen clutching the character’s heart.

Advice for consumers

This game was rated PEGI 18 for frequent strong violence and strong language. Also contains gambling. Not suitable for persons below 18 years of age.

Brief outline of the game

Prequel to Borderlands 2. Help Handsome Jack escape his exile from the Hyperion Moon base and capture it for himself.

Content specific issues

Violence consists mainly of your players shooting at human characters wearing post-apocalyptic clothing or futuristic armour, with a variety of guns. It’s fairly realistic with blood effects and corpses lying about. The worst of the violence happens when you shoot at them causing them to explode and bits of meaty chunks and indeterminate body parts go bouncing along the floor. There’s also a scene where you vent all the air out of an airlock and then eject a group of unarmed people into space, just because you can. Sexual expletives have been bleeped out but it is pretty obvious what is being said thanks to the subtitles, including the words ‘fuck’ and ‘cunt’. Gambling exists in the form of slot machines commonly found in casinos.

Other issues

The game features online playing capability which may involve real-time interaction with other players.
