Color is being drained from the world. Mario and his sidekick go looking for the paint stars on Prism Island to restore the color. The game combines traditional role-playing game (RPG) elements with concepts and features from the Mario series.

Battles in the game are turn based, and consist of selecting a card with an attack on it followed by a counter attack. All violence is really mild and humorous, like jumping on an enemy, or hitting them with a comedy hammer. All characters look like they are made of paper. When a character is weakening, it fades to white. When defeated, it turns into a white sheet of paper.

Cheerful platformer game. Playing as Yoshi, Mario, Luigi or Wario, you must travel through many fantastical levels to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser.
