Brief outline of the game

Third person shooter game, set during the Second World War, in which Adolf Hitler unleashes a legion of undead soldiers. This release of the game includes new campaign levels, as well as various character packs, weapon and weapon skin packs, and maps.

Content specific issues

This game features frequent strong violence. Players can shoot at zombies and human survivors. Shots to heads result in bloody explosions while other impacts can result in dismemberment. The use of explosives can dismember multiple characters at the same time. There is a shooting gallery in which the targets are restrained zombies. The player shoots at the zombies and it is possible to decapitate them.

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items, in the form of additional DLC. Selecting the DLC will take the user to the Nintendo EShop, where additional purchases can be made. When human attack zombies, either by using guns or batons, there are often spurts of blood and there may be dismemberment if a gun is used. There is a level set in a strip club in which a woman can be seen dancing on a pole surrounded by naked men who throw money at her.

Brief outline of the game

Top down twin-stick shooter set in the world after the zombie apocalypse. Follow Tallahassee, Columbus, Witchita and Little Rock as they take a road trip across America, slaying zombies all the way.

Violence is sustained throughout and consists of your player/s surviving wave after wave of hungry zombies, striking them down with whatever weapons you can find while completing each locations objective. Special attacks include spinning like a whirling dervish, instantly turning any zombies you encounter into a puddle of blood. Some zombies can explode upon defeat, again turning into large bloody puddles. Large amounts of blood but no gore or injuries are shown with zombies and their puddles fading away shortly after defeat. Mild to strong language is frequently heard and includes the words ‘bastard’, ‘shit’ and the word ‘fuck’ and its derivatives.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is a Third Person Shooter game. The user can control a member of either the Plant or Zombie faction throughout various game modes and levels and can customize the appearance of their characters through selection of pre-built customization items that can be earned through gameplay or purchased.

Content specific issues

The violence is unrealistic. You must shoot zombies with peas, needles, lasers, rockets etc. Depending on the unit and weapons used, the number of hits needed to kill an enemy differs greatly. When a zombie is killed, it falls over and ‘plops’ away. There is no blood or gore. It’s all cartoony (plants die in the same way as the zombies). The sound effects strengthen this cartoony vibe, as do the graphics and models used in the game. There are loads of oversized objects, a bright colour scheme, loads of goofy sound effects and there’s never a real sense of danger.
