The characters are shown from a top down angle and race from the left-hand side of the screen towards the right whilst attempting to avoid various traps and obstacles. Characters can pick up and use power-ups throughout the levels. These range from projectiles to bananas which trip up the players. Whenever a player is hit with a power-up or runs into an obstacle they ragdoll to the floor with no visible injuries or audible reactions. After a short time, they will return to their feet and continue the race.
